On November 19, 2025, United Airlines flight #UA925 from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles, operated by Boeing 767 N66051, diverted to Dublin after a passenger’s laptop fell into the gap between a seat and the cabin wall. The device became lodged in a location inaccessible to the cabin crew, and due to safety risks associated with its lithium-ion battery, the flight crew decided to divert.
The aircraft landed safely at Dublin Airport, where maintenance teams removed and inspected the laptop. Once the procedures were completed, the plane resumed its flight.
Lithium-ion batteries in laptops, phones, and similar devices can pose overheating risks if subjected to impact or pressure. Since the cabin crew could not access the device, diverting to Dublin was deemed the safest option.
